As you may have read, Dyn Inc. announced this morning that is has acquired EveryDNS. Dyn Inc. and EveryDNS have long shared common goals in the DNS industry, making this an exciting time for all involved. As we begin the transition of domains over to the Dyn network, I wanted to personally welcome each of the 300,000 EveryDNS users to the Dyn Inc. family. We are truly excited to bring EveryDNS under the Dyn umbrella and look forward to delivering the outstanding customer service and world class network performance that we are known for.
You may also be wondering how this will effect your current service with EveryDNS. In the short-term no major changes will be made. As I mentioned above, we are working to transition the EveryDNS service onto our network, but are using the same code base. We expect to complete that within the next few months. After that is done, we will continue to operate and support EveryDNS alongside DynDNS.com and the Dynect Platform.
Dyn Inc.’s roots date back to 1998 when we were a donation-based service. Almost 12 years later, we continue to honor the offer we made to users when a one time donation resulted in lifetime service. Even today, tens of thousands of users enjoy that commitment as a token of our appreciation for getting us started.
As we continue to integrate EveryDNS into DynDNS.com in the coming year, we aim to make the transition a smooth one and ultimately better for the EveryDNS user base. While we do have a few ideas for how to do this, we would also like to hear your feedback. At Dyn Inc. we pride ourselves on openness and transparency and encourage you to get in touch with us through our newly launched community site, Twitter, or through a direct email to me.
One of the questions that we are sure everyone is going to ask is whether or not EveryDNS will remain free. While we don’t 100% have that answer yet, we do know that we are going to discontinue new sign-ups in the near future, listen to your feedback and be in touch.
Again, welcome and looking forward to serving you,
Dyn Inc. CEO
