“Email is one of the hardest things to do,” said Mark Imbriaco, formerly of LivingSocial. “It’s much harder than delivering web services.”
Everyone has heard about email.
This is both good and bad. It is good because, as an email delivery provider, it is easy to explain what Dyn does. It is bad because a lot of people don’t appreciate the complexity that goes into making sure emails reach the customers’ inbox.
Mike Veilleux, Dyn Director of Email, sits down with Mark Imbriaco, formerly of LivingSocial, and discusses just how much email means to a daily deal site like LivingSocial. Although Mark has since moved on to GitHub, his insight into email delivery is incredibly valuable for any company that makes money off of their emails.
Mike and Mark discuss whether a small company should handle their delivery in-house or outsource it, how having good relationships with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) is perhaps more critical than good technology when it comes to successful delivery and how seed accounts are one of the best ways to monitor data.
Imbriaco is a member of Dyn’s Thought Leadership Council (TLC), which meets yearly at Dyn’s corporate headquarters in Manchester, NH, to offer in-depth feedback and guidance.
