These Are the Most Important Initiatives for Tech Decision-Makers

In a recent Oracle-commissioned study carried out by Forrester Consulting,* tech decision-makers were asked about the most important initiatives they’re focused on to address the strategic priorities of their organizations.

There were many initiatives that were extremely important to businesses today, but those that placed at the top of the list stood out to tell two fascinating stories.

Visibility into Performance

The top two areas of focus for respondents revolved around a need for better insights into the operation of their infrastructure and applications. 76% of businesses shared that it was at least very important to better monitor their network performance, while 70% also felt the same about their application performance. This points toward a key trend in a growing need for visibility and accountability around their tools and the people who provide them.

Building New Infrastructure

The rest of our top five selected areas, interestingly, are geared around needs when actually building new infrastructure or moving to the cloud. 68% of respondents were focused on the first step of implementing a web-facing site or application, and 66% are looking to adopt or migrate to the cloud. Just below that, 63% reported that they were charged to deploy web content, applications, and services regionally or globally.

This data, which was based on a survey of more than 150 edge strategy decision makers at small and medium-size enterprises, is a telling reminder that companies are in very different stages of their cloud journey.
