Only one customer in our DNS & Email client base has my cell phone number. It’s not a Fortune 500 company’s system administrator or a top IT pro at an emerging startup. As a matter of fact, it’s a small company that runs out of what was once my childhood bedroom.
Yes, my Mom uses DynECT Managed DNS.
Providing her company Disposables Delivered, an online merchant of incontinence products, with the best DNS in the business is certainly well within the scope of what we do. However, this has allowed me to work an interesting angle when introducing new customers to the platform during initial setup.
A few weeks ago, I had a cold, which is uncharacteristic as I rarely get sick and we’re smack dab in the middle of a New England summer.
Regardless, I was working my usual Monday shift here in the Manchester, NH headquarters like the stubborn trouper that I am. Well, the phone rang at about 7:55 p.m. and mustering every bit of strength and voice I had left, I answered the call.
I talked with the customer for a good hour or so and walked him through setting up Geo Traffic Management on his account. As the call continued, there was one point where he was concerned about uptime and reliability and I very plainly and succinctly stated, “Look, my Mom uses DynECT for her business. If I’d recommend it to my own mother, it’ll work for you too.”
The customer was impressed and even wrote to my director to commend our team on our knowledge and expertise.
My colleagues and I on the DynECT Concierge team are your closest ally in helping you maintain your services and getting the most value out of both DynECT Managed DNS and Email Delivery. As we move through 2012, a year underlined by the notion of making Dyn better, faster and stronger, we encourage you to get in touch with us if you want to get the most out of your services.
Exciting new stuff is coming down the line and we’re getting ready to make the addition of value-added advanced services or the management of existing services as easy as a quick phone call or email.
As for Mama Levine (as my co-workers lovingly refer to her), Disposables Delivered’s website is faster than ever with the power of our growing network of anycast data centers throughout the world. The purveyor of a much more tangible and absorbent kind of “Active Failover” now has Active Failover for maintenance or hosting outages.
Combine that with the scalability of DynECT Managed DNS and another New Hampshire-based startup is now better, faster and stronger.
