As I’ve written on this blog before, we have a very ambitious goal here at Dyn: to run the Internet. To even articulate such a goal, you need to have confidence that you understand the Internet better than anyone. I believe we do. We’ve been stockpiling talent for years (check this, this, this, and this). And now we are sharing that understanding with you in a way we’ve never done before.
I am proud to announce today the launch of Dyn Research. This blog is dedicated to reporting and covering issues that impact the performance of the Internet. Dyn Research is the perfect storm of great minds (people like Jim Cowie, Andrew Sullivan, Matt Larson, and Doug Madory) utilizing great technology to find the stories within big data. In an unbiased and data-driven voice, we will be commenting on and explaining events that impact our collective experience online.
Such information is crucial because we have moved beyond the days when you could just draw a picture of a cloud and have that be the limit of your understanding of the Internet. The Internet is the new business network and we can no longer think of it as a black box. There are events occurring daily that could impact your bottom line and the greater your understanding, the greater your ability to make smart, strategic decisions.
For those of you who know Dyn well, you will understand Dyn Research is the natural evolution of the Renesys blog. For more than a decade that blog has been the source of trusted Internet Performance news for publications from the Washington Post to VentureBeat. People who understand the world continue to look toward us to educate, illuminate and shape the global narrative.
Dyn Research will carry this legacy of excellence into the future. I am both very excited and very proud to be part of something so special.
The Internet just got a lot more open, connected and understandable today.
