How Dyn and the Cloud are Reinventing Oracle

As Oracle and its customers move to the cloud, Dyn has emerged as a key piece of the migration puzzle.

Oracle acquired Dyn in 2016 to provide internet performance, visibility, and traffic management capabilities for customers moving to the cloud. Kyle York, vice president of product strategy for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and general manager of the Oracle Dyn Global Business Unit, discussed this strategy during an interview at last week’s Velocity conference in San Jose, Calif.

“Every single one of Oracle’s customers is trying to figure out that transition,” he said. “How do you do this in this new world and ensure security, compliance, performance, when it’s no longer your data center and your transit relationships – it’s the cloud? We’re coming in and helping provide that visibility – that lens of the public internet – as well as giving more controls and security features to make that transition hopefully easier.”

York also talked about the new Oracle Internet Intelligence Map and how Dyn has been able to keep operating like a startup – albeit a startup with the support and resources of one of the largest and most established brands in the world.

“We’re really kind of reinventing Oracle,” he said.
