Exciting News from Oracle OpenWorld

Back in October 2016, I logged onto my computer to watch tech leaders Larry Ellison, Thomas Kurian, and Don Johnson announce their vision for a next-gen cloud infrastructure at Oracle’s OpenWorld.

One short year later, I find myself on stage showcasing some exciting DNS use cases with innovative customers: Pinterest, Homeaway.com and Distil Networks (check the session out on-demand here!).  I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of driving that strategy and shared vision together at OpenWorld this time around.

This year’s OpenWorld is a key milestone for the Oracle Dyn global business unit. First and foremost we are using this massive event to launch Oracle Cloud Infrastructure DNS. We can now claim that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure runs the best DNS in the world. This will be a huge business differentiator for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers. It is also the first of many new technologies and innovations the Oracle Dyn team will be bringing to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

I should also note that I’ve heard from many of our new colleagues that this product integration was one of the fastest integrations of a new acquisition in Oracle history. This is a testament to both the Oracle and Dyn teams and their ability to work together to bring great products to our customers.

Personally, I am also proud because all of this happened without us ever taking our foot off the gas of the core DNS and email delivery business and our 3500 enterprise and 700,000 SMB/prosumer customers. Many people may think that when an acquisition happens the acquired company slows to a crawl and waits for new marching orders. That wasn’t the case for us. Not only have we met our integration goals, but the core Dyn business is thriving. Last month we had the highest usage rate of our DNS and email products in company history. Businesses around the world know the importance of a high performing infrastructure and they continue to look toward Oracle Dyn to provide them with world-class service.

It was that combination of product and customer base that brought us to Oracle’s attention last year, and that have made us who we are today. Actually, there were five things:

Great tech — built, improved, and perfected over the last sixteen years.

Great team — convincing, acquiring, and poaching the best minds to join us and build better.

Great customers — not just companies, but people, who have our back just like we have theirs.

Great partners — working together to reach higher heights than we could separately.

Great future — stay tuned and follow us, because this thing is going to grow.
