Dyn is heading everywhere, man, and we’re sending a crew to Santa Clara, CA, this week for the 2nd annual Inside Baseball event while also preparing for a Perl-centric event in North Carolina later this month.
Our Jeremy Hitchock and Matthew Horsfall are here to tell you what’s up with Inside Baseball and YAPC::NA 2011, part of an eight-event June. Grab your sunblock, a good book and some snacks for the road.
2nd Annual Inside Baseball by Jeremy Hitchcock
Later this week at Infoblox in Santa Clara, CA, members of the DNS space will meet up to discuss current events, trends and common threats. Our goal is to bring leaders from the DNS industry together for a day of discussion about the DNS space and how to improve it overall.
This annual event represents our belief that we can get a lot further together than we can apart and that the market is untapped with plenty of business for every DNS focused organization to thrive.
Our first year was a big success that allowed people to formally meet face-to-face — companies like us, Infoblox, Afilias, Verisign, DotQuad, Google DNS, Comcast, DNSstuff, No-IP and more. This year, the participation is even wider.
Dyn, Perl and YAPC:: NA 2011 by Matthew Horsfall
Here at Dyn, we use a variety of programming languages and each of us has our favorites. Mine is Perl.
In the past, we have given to the Perl community through donations of money, DNS and time, but in the last few years we’ve quieted down somewhat on that front. We still file bugs in software when we see them and some of us send patches if we can, but I’ve wanted to give back to the Perl community a little more.
Recently, an opportunity to do just that presented itself when I was asking some questions of the YAPC::NA 2011 organizers. I was already planning to attend the conference thanks to Dyn and had some questions about upcoming Birds of a Feather sessions and Hackathons.
Before I knew what was going on, I was put in charge of organizing them and Dyn has been gracious enough to allow me to volunteer my time to do so, in addition to sponsoring the event. It’s been a trip so far and I’m excited for the upcoming conference which is scheduled for June 27 – 29 at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Asheville, North Carolina.
So if you’re a fan of Perl, interested in learning Perl or interested in meeting some cool people, you should register and join us for an awesome week!
