Manchester, NH (March 1, 2012) – Dyn (formerly Dynamic Network Services, Inc.) announced the release of DynECT 5.0 Thursday, the newest and most robust iteration of their enterprise managed/outsourced DynECT Managed DNS platform yet.
The Internet Infrastructure-as-a-Service leader has been long known for pushing the boundaries of what is possible with DNS and DynECT 5.0 continues this legacy. The company has added a number of new features and improved the user experience, all without losing any of the quality clients have come to expect.
Highlights include a restructured and improved Advanced Features set. DynECT Traffic Management now includes Load Balancing, CDN Manager and DTM Traffic Manager in one silo, whereas they were previously offered individually. Customers told Dyn they wanted them all in one spot and thus, Dyn worked to make that happen.
Dyn also added Advanced Traffic Management, which includes Real Time Traffic Management and Geo Traffic Management, while keeping their popular Active Failover feature intact.
“In planning this release, we took a step back and asked ourselves if all of these services were easy to use,” said Cory von Wallenstein, Chief Product Officer at Dyn. “Many of our early adopters were willing to turn every knob, but now we have more and more clients who need it running now.”
Part of the release includes a much-requested feature that will allow users to monitor CNAME records. In the past, users could monitor IP addresses but now will be able to monitor CNAME records across CDNs. If there is a failure, Dyn removes them from being served.
Dan McCombs, Dyn New Product Development Manager, explained that updates will be released in the coming months. For current Traffic Management customers, the transition to DynECT 5.0 will happen automatically and seamlessly. Current users of CDN Manager or Load Balancing will see the new interface if they add a new service.
“Our services have grown organically over time, but they have now gotten to a point where we are able to condense them. We think our clients will really appreciate it,” McCombs said.
