Names former Manchester Mayor Bob Baines as Director
Manchester, NH (June 16, 2014) – Dyn, the worldwide leader in Internet performance, announced today that Bob Baines, former Mayor of Manchester and Principal of West High School, will serve as Director of Dyn’s newly formed Community Relations department, which will be an evolution of DynCares, the company’s longtime philanthropic arm.
The Community Relations team will work to benefit the greater New England ecosystem through three pillars of community influence. The three pillars are: technology, STEM Education and workforce development and entrepreneurship. These will manifest themselves through initiatives such as STEAM Ahead NH, The Technology & Innovation Academy at SEE and external scholastic course offerings and partnerships with the Alpha Loft, the New Hampshire High Tech Council, and others in the community in order to grow the New Hampshire non-profit and tech ecosystems.
“I have dedicated my life to public service and I am excited for this new opportunity,” Baines said. “Dyn is a unique company in that the more it succeeds, the more it gives back. The company’s leadership team cares about New England and is committed to making it the best place possible – not only today but for generations to come.”
Baines has a long resume of both success and impact in New Hampshire. Over the past 30 years, he has been Principal of Manchester High School West, Mayor of the City of Manchester, and College President of Chester College of New England.
“Bob’s knowledge and insights into our educational system and the affairs of the community are a remarkable resource,” said Paul Mailhot, Dyn VP of Business Operations. “We’re very fortunate to have Bob leading the charge and we hope to engage and impact not only Manchester and New Hampshire but New England as a whole. And, as we begin to truly master these initiatives, we plan to implement them in our UK and Australia offices and create a global impact.”
The Community Relations team will be an evolution of DynCares, which in 2013 alone donated more than $271,000 to organizations in the US and UK, like the New Hampshire Innovation Commercialization Center (NH-ICC) and the WPI User Experience and Decision Making (UEDM) Research Laboratory.
Additionally, Dyn employees have given more than 3,600 hours through volunteerism and leadership, serving as mentors to youth on FIRST Robotics teams and Big Brothers Big Sisters,as well as providing leadership as board members for Stay Work Play, Families In Transition, Boys and Girls Club and the NH High Tech Council, amongst many others.
“Some companies strive to be the only game in town,” said Mark Kaplan, CEO of Alpha Loft. “But Dyn understands the long-term value of building a thriving ecosystem. They’re dedicated to spreading their love of technology and entrepreneurship throughout the region, and are working tirelessly to put New Hampshire on the international map.”
