Over the past few days we’ve been sending out emails to former users asking them to come back to DynDNS.com.
These emails have been sent off to our earliest users who, for one reason or another, are no longer using the IT services offered on our home/SMB site. Because we historically weren’t very proactive in communicating with users and customers (actually, we stunk at it), this e-newsletter serves as a tactic in a greater effort to strengthen our relationships across the board, from free users to our largest enterprise accounts on the Dynect Platform.
Here is the intro paragraph of the e-newsletter (powered by a great Dyn partner, the “Inbox Experts” at Sendlabs).
“Dear ex-DynDNS Customer (who wants to be an ex?),
So do you remember us? Well, we certainly remember you. You were one of our earliest customers. You put your faith in us before we had proven ourselves. Your support helped lay the foundation for DynDNS to become a world leader in networking specializing in DNS, email and domain name services for customers in over 200 countries (yup, TWO HUNDRED). We’ve catered to the needs of more than 12 million users (that’s 12,000,000 with six zeros!), from home enthusiasts to Fortune 500 companies, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of where we expect to go.”
As you can see it is light-hearted, honest, straight to the point and fun. The email was even sent directly from Chris Widner, our DynDNS Ninja Sensei (aka Customer Support Manager). Believe it or not, he is also responding to EVERY SINGLE person who responds, whether positive or negative (yes, some people like us, some don’t — we’re no different than every other company out there!).
