If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it really make a sound? Likewise, if you create a great product or service and it never finds its audience, is it really a success? To the latter, we would say NO and that is one of the reasons we are going west…to South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX.
Call it manifest destiny or just a can’t miss opportunity to spread the word on why everyone needs the infrastructure experts at Dyn on speed-dial.
For whatever reason (maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the food or maybe it’s just old fashioned southern hospitality), but there’s something about South by Southwest that creates the perfect atmosphere to connect with like-minded individuals. The interactive week at SXSW has slowly and steadily been
attracting the top tech and creative movers and shakers for years now, which has also attracted a growing group of followers that some would affectionately call the ‘geek elite’ or ‘alpha nerds’.
Others might argue that these tech enthusiasts came first, but putting aside the chicken or the egg argument, SXSW Interactive is now a prime location for startups and the major names in the biz alike to flock to Austin to announce products and generate buzz.

For our part, we officially drank the SXSW Kool-Aid last year when we sent just a few Dyn Inc. representatives to check out the scene. Immediately last year’s DNS is Sexy campaign was sparked, and we were impressed with the energy and opportunity to connect. From that point on we realized Dyn had taped into a receptive audience and the wheels immediately started to spin to figure out how we would increase our presence at the 2011 event.
Now months in the making, we’ve been slowly and steadily building up to our return to Austin, starting with our Taking it to the Streets campaign where we set out to spend some quality time with our customers to find out what made them tick. Below is a recap of what we’ve been up to and how we’ve been Taking it to the Streets in preparation for our return trip to a city that celebrates being unique and happily plays home to a wide variety of people from music, film and of course the tech world. So will we find our audience two years in a row? And what other cool startups will be launched into Web super-stardom at the event? Stay tuned…
