What Is It?
Geo Traffic Management (GeoTM) gives DynECT Managed DNS clients the ability to control DNS responses based on more granular/customized geographic rule sets (country, state, province) specific to business needs as opposed to strictly regional rule sets that currently exist within the Traffic Management (GSLB) feature.
What Are The Features?
- Extremely fast response times
- Customize responses based on country of originating DNS resolver
- State and province support for U.S. and Canada
- Large set of supported record types including A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, SRV
- Default (fallback) region for queries which do not match any configured GeoTM rule
- Overlay on traditional traffic management to add granularity
- Full API support (REST and SOAP)
How do I know if this is right for my business?
If you have web servers in specific countries that you need traffic to go to, Geo Traffic Management is a great service to have. Here’s a real world example: our friends in Asia can now have different configurations for China or Australia as opposed to the same rule set for both. Our Australian clients can now keep traffic within their own region as opposed to elsewhere.
