Recently, you may have noticed a distinct saffron hue in our advertising campaigns. No, you don’t have to make any adjustments to your screen — we are just on our way to owning the color yellow.
It’s a bold move, a fresh take on our already exciting brand and the new face of your favorite Internet performance solutions company!
On that note, we’re always looking for new and interesting ways to “own yellow”. With Velocity UK wrapping up Friday, and a certain Tame Racing Driver making an appearance at our booth, I asked around the office to find out what some of Dyn’s favorite yellow cars are.
Here are 5 cars that some of our resident gearheads thought of:
2002 Subaru Impreza WRX – Sonic Yellow
AJ Garron, Marketing Programs Coordinator for Emerging Markets
“Although I am an avid European car fanatic, which made this choice extremely difficult due to the beautiful Imola Yellow sported on the Volkswagen GTI and Audi S4, out of all the cars I have had the pleasure of driving, this Sonic Yellow WRX wagon, otherwise known at the Little Bus, is still my favorite.
Sporting many JDM upgrades such as a Spec C roof vent, JDM front end conversion, and a square set of Work VS-XX’s, this car looked amazing. But it is what was done to the drivetrain and the suspension that really made it worth while.
Sporting many bolt-on additions under the bonnet and coilover suspension with front and rear strut brace bars, this thing was fast and handled like it was on rails. Delivering all this power trough the JDM version 7 6-speed STI transmission and Subaru’s symmetrical AWD system resulted in an all around amazing driving experience and un-matched exhaust note but after all, it is what makes a Subaru a Subaru.”
2001 Audi S4 Avant – Imola Yellow
Nate Frisella, Sales Engineer
“A twin-turbo V6 motor delivers maximum power to ground of this Audi S4 Avant, just as efficient as Dyn provides the same groundbreaking power to its anycast network. No globe is a match for these two fierce powerhouses.
The fun of a powerful station wagon is certainly the speed at which you can move a lot of stuff. Think of any of Dyn’s services as you would the Audi S4 Avant. They haul.”
2006 Chevrolet Corvette – Canary Yellow
Todd Dyer, Technical Support Manager
“The first car I could think of was my Uncle’s canary yellow, early 2000s Corvette. That thing was speedy and responsive, just like our Managed DNS and Email Delivery!
This generation of the great American 2-seater sports car came in a bunch of really sharp colors, but this Canary Yellow example is the same sort of powerful statement of style that we are making with our refreshed brand here at Dyn. Bold, powerful, and un-compromised performance in every regard.”
1987 Ruf CTR Yellowbird
Neil Schelly, Senior Systems Administrator
“The Porsche 911 has been a staple of motorsports for 50 years, as DNS has been a core part of Internet infrastructure, but everything can be improved.
When you need more speed or more agility, a few modifications to something familiar becomes something unforgettable like a Ruf CTR ‘Yellowbird.'”
1991 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible – Monte Carlo Yellow
It should come as no shock to anyone who knows me that I have chosen my all-time favorite example of this iconic Swedish car. In 1991, Saab released a Special Edition version of the 900, available in two special colors – naturally, my favorite of the two was Monte Carlo Yellow. Under the unconventional front-hinged clamshell hood lived a 160 horsepower, 4-cylinder 16-valve turbocharged engine.
While many were sold with an unfortunate and woefully antiquated 3-speed automatic, the proper examples came with a 5-speed manual gearbox to put that power to the front wheels. Luxurious buffalo gray Bridge of Weir Scottish leather adorned the passenger cabin, which at the touch of a button went from being a cozy sports coupe to one of the world’s finest open-air motoring machines.
Like Dyn’s ultra-reliable Traffic and Message Management offerings, the 900 was an agile, powerful machine that could deal with anything mother nature threw its way. Even with a cavernous trunk that could swallow a few golf bags, and room for 4 passengers, this was a machine that could deliver in more ways than most other cars of its time.
If performance and reliability are of utmost concern to you, perhaps it’s time you took Dyn for a test drive. We can show you how your current DNS stacks up against ours. Think of it as a DNS drag race! How about seeing how effectively your email is getting to the inbox? We can give you insight into that as well.
