Dyn Employee Spotlight: Alex Beaulieu

The Employee Spotlight is a monthly feature that highlights the great talent we have here at Dyn. From interns to executives, Dyn is filled with the brightest minds in the industry bringing a wealth of experience to our ever-growing team.

This month, we spoke with Alex Beaulieu, a Dyn employee that came on board this summer as a Media Relations intern and is now working full time as the Media Relations Coordinator.

How did you learn about us?

Alex BeaulieuI first heard about Dyn like most people hear about up-and-coming venues: word of mouth. It was the friend of a friend that works at Dyn and the stories about the crazy-awesome culture that sound like something straight out of Silicon Valley.

It was nothing like the stuffy offices and reserved Office Space-like employees that I had come to expect from corporate America.

Prior to learning about Dyn, I had no clue what DNS was, what it did, or how URLs even worked. Call me a nerd, but as I kept digging, I actually became more and more intrigued by how this necessary technology functioned and how Dyn earned a reputation for being an industry leader on something so complex.

What made you want to apply?

It was a perfect combination of factors that I was looking and hoping to find in my post-graduate career. It’s close to where I grew up and is  largely comprised of a young employee base. With a work hard, play hard atmosphere that serves to band everyone together, it becomes more than just a place to work.

Most importantly, it is governed by motivated leaders that make decisions based on collected opinions and feedback with an openness and transparency that I’ve never even heard of anywhere else. Who wouldn’t want to work here?

What do you do here?

I’m the Media Relations Coordinator, which relates very well to what I did originally as an intern, but incorporates a lot more of what you think a PR role would entail. Please don’t compare me to Samantha from Sex In The City; I like to keep it classy.

What is your favorite Dyn memory so far?

My first Dyntini was quite an experience. It was relaxing, exciting, motivating, and rockin’. We had a former governor and current board member John Lynch offer up his key insights into the business world just minutes before big name rock stars took the stage. There was enough food and drinks that you’d think it was a carnival. It was all this while being able to share the experience with friends and family. Dyn loves to share its success and it is an incredibly powerful motivator for employees to bring their A-game everyday.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Alex B GolfI like to spend my time in the gym. If I could, I would probably exercise all day, but as much as I’d like to be, I’m no Superman. I spend my recovery days researching anatomy, physiology, different exercises and workout routines, and in general, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Other than that, I love to travel. If I haven’t been there, I want to go there. The world is such a large place it’s a crying shame to not see and experience as much as you possibly can.

Why do you like working at Dyn?

It’s the people that really make it great. Everyone is genuinely happy and that jovial nature is contagious. It’s hard to walk into the office every morning and not feel excited to be here.

I love that people are so open about their passions and hobbies too. It’s easy to connect with people and discuss topics of common interest. I often find myself staying well past 5 PM just talking and getting to know someone outside of what they do in the office. I can’t wait to see what new faces come on board and get to know their story, especially the ambitious interns.
