Dyn Research: The Authority on Global Internet Performance

Over the past six months we have been in the forefront of the news on global Internet events. We take a non-sensationalized, data-rich approach, ensuring we humanize the data and make it digestible for entities that rely on a highly-available and highly-performing Internet for commerce and communication. You’ve heard our opinions and seen us out front.

From the Chinese Internet boom, to Cyber Monday in the western world, to submarine cables being cut (this happens more than you’d expect!), to the US state of Missouri activating DDoS protection, to Russian Internet challenges and hurting economy, to Cuba’s push for a more usable Internet with the trade embargo with America lifted, to shoddy Internet access in the Middle East (and in places you wouldn’t expect – see Ireland!), and to today, with North Korea following their rumored involvement in the Sony hack, their Internet has been offline — we’ve been there and we’ve been ahead of the pack.

Since our acquisition of Internet intelligence firm, Renesys, in May of 2014, we’ve been busy integrating the technologies, data, teams, knowledge, and cultures. We knew what we were getting when we brought on the team operating predominantly in the shadows of Dartmouth College, in Hanover, NH, a quintessentially New England, U.S.A. town. It’s been a thrill to evolve into an Internet Performance powerhouse… TOGETHER.

We’ve become the de facto company globally for Internet Performance — an unbiased, impartial, agnostic, neutral player — with no data center, bandwidth, cloud, managed hosting or CDN to sell. We provide just the facts on how the Internet actually works for you and your customers and the tools to monitor & analyze and control & optimize the infrastructure behind your application or website. Think of us as the “glue guys”. It’s a win-win-win-win, for Dyn, our customers, their customers, and global Internet users.

As we progress into 2015, you’ll see us put a stronger focus on the availability and performance of Internet Service Providers, Network Service Providers, cloud infrastructure providers, managed hosting providers, content delivery networks, and data center providers that live behind the major web properties we all rely on. Our goal is to keep the landscape honest and report the facts. In some instances, we may name names, some instances we may not. We may toe the line and we may cross it. We believe we have a great responsibility and we intend to live up to the expectation we’ve collectively set forth. You’ll see us weave together global Internet events and their commercial relevance.

Whois: Kyle York

Kyle York is Dyn’s Chief Strategy Officer and has been a long-time executive, having joined in 2008. Over the years, he has held go-to-market leadership roles in worldwide sales, marketing, and services.
