MANCHESTER, NH – June 27, 2012 – Dyn announced Wednesday that company co-founder and CTO Tom Daly will become the company’s Chief Scientist, a move that continues Dyn’s commitment to innovation. In his new position, Daly will be driving Dyn’s long-term technology road map through greater contributions of his expertise to Dyn Labs.
As a result, longtime employee Cory von Wallenstein has been named Chief Technology Officer, a transition from his role as Chief Product Officer.
As the Chief Scientist, Daly will continue to ensure that Dyn is a world leader in Managed DNS and Email Delivery through continued policy and protocol development, as well as continued awareness building and advocacy efforts for Dyn.
Tom Daly to become Dyn's Chief Scientist.
His primary goal will be to investigate potential technology offerings for clients and Internet users worldwide that will help make Dyn better, faster and stronger, but also to improve the Internet as a whole. Putting one of the company’s best resources into Dyn Labs shows how committed the company is to remaining a thought leader in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) space.
“As an IaaS company, Dyn is positioned to be able to continuously redefine the gold standard of Managed DNS and Email Delivery services,” Daly said. “This opportunity and investment in Dyn Labs continues our efforts to evolve our service offerings, far beyond our current capabilities, and even into new areas of service.”
As the Chief Technology Officer, von Wallenstein will be responsible for setting the technical vision and architecture of the company’s IaaS offerings. It’s a natural progression for the man who began as a lead developer at Dyn in 2008. In the four years that followed, he quickly rose through the ranks to become VP, Product Management and most recently, Chief Product Officer.
“I am beyond excited about this opportunity,” von Wallenstein said. “We have some of the best engineers in the industry working on our technology and I am honored to help lead them and Dyn through this next chapter of our history.”
“Innovation is a big part of every industry and company and in order for us to grow and scale with the demands of our customers, we need this level of talent solely focusing on achieving our goals,” said Dyn CEO Jeremy Hitchcock. “Tom has an uncanny ability to see the future and we trust his skills to deliver it to Dyn first. As for Cory, he has been an irreplaceable voice at Dyn for a long time and will remain a driving force as we continue to grow and scale.”
Founded in 1998, Dyn is the worldwide Internet Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) leader, powering Managed DNS and Email Delivery for more than four million enterprise, small business and personal users. With nearly 20 data centers around the world and industry-leading uptime for over 13 years, Dyn’s commitment to customer relationships and engineering excellence shines every day.
