Customer Tip: Enrolling In DynID

It’s time to acquire an ID that you don’t need to carry in your wallet. While your DynID won’t let you drive a car, board a plane, or order a mojito (we’ve tried, it didn’t go well) it can still be a useful asset in your DNS toolbox. As our portal evolves, expands, and continuously becomes more efficient DynID is the glue that holds it all together. It acts as a single sign on (SSO) for all your Dynect.net services like Managed DNS, Email Delivery, Internet Intelligence, and more.

Perhaps the best part of a DynID is you don’t need to wait in line at the DMV to get one! Instead, your method of obtaining a DynID will depend on the services you utilize. Let’s take Managed DNS for example, where API users on your account will have the option to enroll. While the Dyn API is powerful and fast, many of your users will want to access the shiny graphs and user-friendly interface that is our Managed DNS portal. That’s where DynID comes in.

To enroll your API user in Managed DNS you will need three pieces of information. Make sure to take note of them as we’ll need them during enrollment.

  1. Customer Name – This information is the same for every user on your account, and can be found when viewing your API user or Managed DNS account overview.
  2. Username – This is the username one would use when connecting to the API. The username is created by an administrator on your account.
  3. Password – The information you need here is your API password, which is also created by an admin on your account.

When you have the above items in order you’re ready to roll! You can reach our DynID portal at portal.dynect.net where you will be greeted with our DynID login screen. You can select the “Click here to get one” option at the bottom.

On the page that follows, you can enter the credentials we made note of above. Hit “Enroll” when you’re done.

You’re one step closer to a DynID, and it gets easier from here. Enter your name and phone number on this screen and click “Next.”

You may now enter your email address. This email will become your DynID, and you will use this email address to login. Click “Next” when done.

Once you’ve entered your email, you will be presented with the fields to create your DynID password. You may select “Next” when complete.

We’re almost there! We will then send a confirmation email to the address you entered earlier. You should soon find a message from us in your inbox containing a link to confirm your DynID. When clicked, you will be prompted to enter your newly created DynID credentials.

Congratulations, you are now the proud owner of a DynID! You will now have access to your Managed DNS service, create a support ticket, enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA), and much more!
