Today, we’re happy to announce that Matt Larson has been promoted as our new CTO. Matt joined Dyn about a year ago as Chief Architect to help set the technical vision of the company. Since then, he’s been hard at work leading technical innovation for Dyn, designing for Internet scale, and thinking up what’s next. He’s helped our services achieve higher levels of reliability, speed, and scale for all of our customers.
As we have been building beyond our traffic management and message management services, Matt’s voice has been instrumental in our creation of a performance assurance area. He truly understands how the Internet needs more intelligence. He has seen how our customers are looking for ways to manage how they use the Internet to better connect with their customers.
In his new role as CTO, Matt will work with all of the facets of service delivery – engineering and network operations while continuing to oversee our architecture and labs teams. We have a lot of exciting projects in the works that will have a huge impact on how enterprises operate their Internet enabled applications. Matt will be leading this charge and ensuring that as we change the Internet, we remain the same company we’ve always been – one that is dedicated to engineering excellence and exceptional customer support.
Besides his work at Dyn, Matt is an active participant in the technical community and Internet standards community, and has contributed to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). He has also served as chairman of the board of the DNS Operations, Analysis and Research Center (DNS OARC), and as vice-chair of ICANN’s Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC). Matt has also served as a member of ICANN’s Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). Prior to joining Dyn, Matt was the VP of Research at Verisign and Director of Verisign Labs. In his 13 years at Verisign, Matt used his skills as a DNS protocol and operations specialist in various roles.
