SXSW 2012

SXSW 2012: The Road Back To Austin Starts With Your Votes

While some of us at are still recovering from the epic parties (including our own), the innovative sessions and the great networking that took place at the 2011 South by Southwest Interactive (SXSW) festival in Austin, TX, others here are already in deep preparation for the 2012 event and we need your help!

We admit that we went a little rogue this past March in the city that likes to keep it weird but this time around, we are planning to follow the rules (Ok, MOST of them).  Our first step? Submit an actual presentation and hope everyone thinks the subject matter is as cool as we do. We’ve done our best to make DNS sexy and email delivery cool and now we want to show our loves of both off to the audience at SXSW.

Last week, Manchester’s abi Innovation HUB hosted the first in a series of quarterly events centered around stories from the founders of successful start-up businesses. While these founders didn’t speak for hours and hours, the message and impact was felt.

The Top Five Ways We Keep Dyn Weird

As we count down to our party at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas (7 days to be exact) and continue “Taking it to the Streets” to find out what makes our clients unique, it got me thinking about the things that make Dyn tick.

Some of you also might be wondering what would draw so many technology companies to create a presence at a music and film festival…that is until I tell you the city of Austin’s slogan: Keep Austin Weird.

According to Wikipedia, one interpretation of the slogan is as a reference to the many small businesses in Austin which give the city its unique cultural identity. Here at Dyn, we embrace our startup roots and know that with each person we add to our team, our cultural identity gets that much weirder — just the way we like it.

In honor of our upcoming trip to a city that celebrates being different and to our clients who have let us pick their brains and talk about what sets them apart, here are the top 5 ways we are keeping Dyn weird.

Defining “Rock Solid” Internet Infrastructure

At Dyn we have a tendency to focus on two main things — rock-solid relationships and rock-solid DNS infrastructure. Defining a relationship with a client as “solid” is easy to explain, just check out our case studies or 3rd party validation reviews, but defining what it means to have rock-solid technology and infrastructure…that can be a bit more complex. Since having one without the other would be like having cake and not getting to eat it too, we thought we’d take the time to define why our infrastructure, like the state of New Hampshire, is solid as a rock.
